What are your goals for 2019? Everyone has goals… it’s the follow-through that has to be there! I have SO many (and I will share them with you soon because you are going hold me accountable), but I want to focus today on a few tips on getting in the mindset to achieve our goals next year!
Believe in yourself! Think about what you have accomplished already in your life! Really stop to think about it. I am willing to bet you don’t give yourself enough credit for being amazing – most of us don’t! If you don’t believe you can do it, guess what… you can’t! You are capable of whatever you think you can achieve! Become your biggest cheerleader instead of your biggest roadblock and start now with those positive affirmations, because you CAN do this!
Know exactly how to get there! Study after study confirms that writing down your goals and having accountability partners increases your chances of accomplishing them! Don’t get overwhelmed before you even start! I use my STARTplanner to visualize my goals, make a plan, break it down and have a roadmap for exactly what it’s going to take to get where I want to be! It is not only the vision but the daily action steps that get you there! (P.S. these planners are getting ready to start selling out!)
Look Fear in the Face…and then tell it to get out of your way! Fear can often hold us back from even starting on our goals, but try to determine if it’s just fear or actual danger. 9 times out of 10 we are just overthinking (I.e. What if people judge me? What if I fail?) and we need to remember that EVERYONE faces fear, but it’s important not to let it paralyze us! If you “fail,” guess what… you just learned! Keep going!
Have a plan for dealing with setbacks. Ok, we all know that life isn’t all rainbows and unicorns every day…so let’s be realistic that our goal-getting might not be as picture perfect as it is in our vision, but guess what? THAT’S OKAY! Be prepared to give yourself grace, but have a plan to get back on track when things don’t go quite as planned! You need people in your corner who will help you when you think you can’t or when setbacks happen!
Get organized. I really think this is the most important one. Lingering tasks and clutter use this next week to tie up loose ends! Tasks or loose ends weigh us down! Make a list of the things you want to organize to get you ready! Create a budget, organize the closet, clear out and organize the pantry… you name it!
I am putting away the Christmas decor today and now I am in the mindset to make 2019 our year! So here is my proposal: Make 2019 YOUR year! WIN YOUR GOALS. There are 6 days left before the New Year! Let’s get in the right mindset! Let’s stop making excuses. Let’s start making progress on that life that we want to live!! Are you ready? Let’s do this!
